Is a medium sized deciduous tree that grows up to 25’ tall and 20’ wide. It has green leaves in the summer and yellow to red leaves in the fall. Hornbeams have an upright and irregular growth habit. It also is known as ironwood, getting the name from its smooth gray bark that sometimes reminds one of iron. It makes an excellent general-purpose tree in the landscape.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Useful Links:” title_align=”separator_align_left” color=”green”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]UCONN Plant Database
