The DSTC hosted the annual Shade Tree Commission Seminar on March 2. This free wonderful event provided an informative evening for the community at large. Attendees learned how to plant the right trees in the right place and use landscaping to improve the value of their homes. Tree experts shared their wisdom and answered questions. Speakers each contributed their expertise to the successful evening! Roseann Copolla spoke to the value trees bring to real estate values. Jay Kaplan informed the attendees about the good work PSE&G does to keep us safe and the power flowing by caring for the trees along the power distribution system. Craig Grothues’ presentation highlighted the biodiversity in our community and the effect of the growing deer and coyote population on our urban forest. The panel experts included Certified Tree Experts Rob Gillies and Joe Ulrich who answered many questions for those in attendance. The Shade Tree Commission looks for unique and interesting ways to connect with the community and last night’s seminar introduced a group of educated and talented people in a nice warm setting.
Thanks to Donna Falbourn for the gracious use of the Senior Center and for their ongoing support of DSTC. Refreshments were served, of course!
